The off duty oceanic goddess

One of the hair trends for 2013 is the wet look hairstyle. This slick and modern hairstyle isn’t just perfect for the runways, though: it’s also a great look to take out on the streets. Don’t believe me? Check out this off model we spotted outside after the Alberta Ferretti spring 2013 show.

Pet Shop Boys “Memory Of The Future (Stuart Price Extended Mix)”: Idolator Premiere

Pet Shop Boys Memory Of The Future

One thing that’s stellar about Pet Shop Boys in this era of the British duo’s storied career: they’re not ones to shy away from good old-fashioned extended mixes. And for “Memory Of The Future,” their third single off Elysium, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe not only enlisted Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, Take That) to remix the track for its official release, the digital bundle (out January 1) comes wielding the “Stuart Price Extended Mix.”

“Stuart Price made the new seven-inch mix of ‘Memory of the future’ for us and then extended it into this fantastic futuristic dance mix,” says Tennant of pairing up with Price (who, we must say, would make a great choice of producer for their next studio album). Longtime fans of the Boys will note some winking similarities between this remix and the one Shep Pettibone did for their 1986 single “Love Comes Quickly.” What better way to conjure up a memory of the future?

Listen To Stuart Price’s full remix below.

Other remixes of “Memory Of The Future” come courtesy of Ulrich Schnauss, DJ Waldo Squash and London duo Digital Dog. The single, when released digitally on January 1, will also arrive with three new b-sides: “Listening,” “One Night” and “Inside.”

Britney Spears To Get Fired From ‘The X Factor’: Report

X Factor Season 2 britney spears

Breaking news! Stop the presses! Extr-ee, extr-ee, read all about it! According to a new report, Britney Spears is so breathtakingly boring on The X Factor that producers are planning to give the living legend the ol’ heave-ho come 2013, citing her underwhelming performance and sky-high salary as reasons for her unsustainable future. Of course, this comes courtesy of an exclusive story in Us Weekly, so we’ll await an official confirmation before trying too hard to get #Pray4Godney to trend on Twitter.

News that Spears is a snooze on the show won’t shock even her most diehard devotees, and her low-octane delivery hasn’t gone unnoticed by producers who were, perhaps, expecting something a little more on the umbrella-wielding end of the spectrum. “They paid [$15 million] for her to say ‘amazing’ and offer half-claps,” an “insider” told Us Weekly. As for Simon Cowell, another source alleges that he’s eager to see Spears gone: “He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney.” Admittedly, that’s probably how most of America feels too.

Given that The X Factor continues to flounder in the ratings, it may be time to face facts: Spears may remain one of the world’s best pop stars, but she’s not a particularly compelling TV personality. Conversely, Christina Aguilera‘s last album was a colossal flop, but she makes for wickedly dynamic and compulsively watchable television. Do with that what you will.

Derek Blasberg and Opening Ceremony Unite As "Handwritten Letter Helpers"

Letter writing — of the actual pen, paper, stamp variety — is a skill verging on extinction thanks to our email society. In a cool retro twist, purveyors of the-next-big-thing in fashion, Opening Ceremony, and BAZAAR editor at large and etiquette expert Derek Blasberg — writer of Classy and Very Classy — are reigniting the letter writing revolution with a new stationery concept, "Handwritten Letter Helper." Launching today exclusively at Opening Ceremony stores and online, the collection includes eight form letters to be personalized by the sender, with anniversary, thank you, love notes, birthday wishes and congratulations marking just a few of the topics covered. Consider it a chic and thoughtful Mad Libs, with fill-in-the-blanks to make the effort easy. Blasberg explains, "I love receiving handwritten notes, almost as much as I love sending them, and I wish more people would get on the letter-writing bandwagon with me. I figured this would be a fun, festive and endearing way to get people to realize the impact of putting pen to paper again."

Smartening up

Posted in Fashion / Fashion blog / Fashion pictures / Milan fashion week / Street style

There was a time when the whole point of ripped denim was to come off looking tough, careless, grungy and alternative. But in fashion, all things can have their essence, their very philosophy, realigned. Thus against all contradiction, ripped denim can have a smart, deliberate look that’s still careless but in an effortlessly chic – and not a grungy – way. Like this street style look from Milan.
