Sac du jour

The Checkmate carry-on hard shell suitcase by Canuck firm Hey's, $119 on sale. Hells yes!

Today's Sac du jour comes just as Europe embarks on a month-long holiday and the rest of us continue to hear news of that infamous return flight from Paris to Toronto this week that left passengers stranded at Charles de Gaulle airport for 36 hours of waiting and waiting.

Now who wouldn't have wanted one of today's gamey chessboard carry-on suitcases during that unexpected layover? Exactly.

The Hey's hard shell suitcase collection is already known for being lightweight, well-built and durable with a 5-year limited warranty and those fantastically smart 360 degree rotating wheels for easy carting.

Today's Chessmate is especially worthy since it is made of 100% recycled plastic materials and comes with the full set of chess pieces.

The handsome carry-on Checkmate 21

We love hard shells- perfect for hauling back bottles of vintages and prized findings (like special shoes) in far-away lands.

Happy August!

Meet the Top 10 Skirt Bloggers of September 2014

Can you believe it's October already? Time sure flies! The only thing that makes us happy to say goodbye to summer is the promise of fall and cozying up in cute plaid skirts and fluffy knitted sweaters.

Before we get carried away by the impending fall vibes, let us first show you the skirt outfits that made our hearts leap last month:

1. Elizabeth from United States

Elizabeth

Tired of the all-white or all-black trend? Why not go all-lilac just like what Elizabeth has successfully done in this outfit? This is such a whimsical skirt but the sporty top gave the ensemble a more interesting flair.

2. Kiara from California

Kiara

Now this is a skirt you'd love to have in your closet. The origami-style pleated skirts are very trendy these days but the A-line shape and the checkered print of Kiara's skirt make this a seasonless piece you'd find yourself wearing over and over again.

3. Iida from United Kingdom

Iida

Don't you think Iida's H&M skirt is so versatile? It can go from day to night with just a few tweaks in styling!

4. Luba from Spain

Luba

Here's how you can pull off an animal-print skirt: wear it with a t-shirt and cap off the look with a leather jacket. Luba's styling is flawless!

5. Manuella from Bucuresti

Manuella

How adorable is Manuella's flared skirt? That ribbon detail at the waist had us swooning!

6. Chantal from New York

Chantal

Who said you should say goodbye to your cheerful colored clothes this season? Follow Chantal's footsteps and don a matching lace top and skirt in a cheerful yellow color and wear a coat to give it an autumn vibe.

7. Laurielle from France

Laurielle

We're so smitten with Laurielle's entire outfit! That gingham skirt is a nice piece to pay homage to the remnants of summer. She looks like she could be shooting a summer lookbook!

8. Emily from California

Emily2

Time to bring out your plaid skirts ladies! Do what Emily did and wear it with your comfiest sweater. Now finish off the school girl look with a satchel bag and a pair of ankle-strap pumps.

9. Sam from Netherlands

Sam

Sam sure knows how to dress up in those days teetering between summer and fall. The matching striped sweater and skirt is decidedly summery while the overcoat is a great piece to kick-start this new season.

10. Yvonne from United States

Yvonne

Colorblocking has pretty much become a classic styling trick. Try something like what Yvonne did here - that aquamarine pencil skirt and green top reminded us of vacations in a beach during a sunny summer day.

That wraps up our September. What did you think of our picks?

Take a Peek at How the Most Popular Dior Bags are Made

Ever wonder how your favorite designer purses are made? Because we often see these beautiful bags all made and propped up in retail stores, we rarely give a second thought about the process behind their creation. With the opening of Bergdorf Goodman's new in-store Dior boutique at their Manhattan flagship store, the retailer released a series of photographs that details the process of making a Dior bag.

Dior Bags1

There's so much that goes on behind the scenes of making a bag, especially a Dior bag. In this series of pictures, we get to see how the expert craftsmen of the Dior brand assemble and stitch their most popular purses like the Lady Dior, Diorissimo and Dior Addict. You can see from the pics how careful they are in handling the leather and putting in the details. In some parts, the craftsmen even have to wear gloves to make sure the luscious leather is not scratched or damaged in any way.

Getting a peek of this intimate behind-the-scenes moment makes us appreciate designer bags even more. While these Dior bags might take a chunk out of our savings, they are definitely worth the investment. See more Dior handbags here.

Meet the Top 10 Bloggers of September 2014

September is officially over and so is summer. But if the weather in your city is still a little confusing, then here are some great outfit ideas to consider courtesy of the 10 stylish bloggers we've handpicked for the month of September. Whether the weather in your corner is still warm and sunny or already getting brisk and windy, these outfits will no doubt inspire you to dress up, and of course, accessorize.

It's no secret that accessories, be it a handbag or a pair of shoes, can make or break an outfit. We're happy to say that the bloggers you'll meet today made the cut not only because of their standout looks, but because of the way they hit the right notes using well-appointed extras.

1. Mirella Szymoniak from Poland

If you need to start layering but still dream of summer, try this look from photographer and fashion blogger, Mirella of Fog Dancing. It's easy to replicate and easy to pull off. Pick a coat in light powder blue and wear it with an all white outfit. This way, you get to wear a lil' bit of summer's pastel hues as you keep yourself warm for fall. Cap off the attire with a black-and-white clutch and you have a winning combination.

2. Juliette from United Kingdom

Sometimes, less is definitely more. Take for example this all-black attire from Juliette of L'amour de Juliette. The trick to looking fabulous in such a minimalist getup is in the extras. In this case, a simple but oh-so luxurious chain-strap quilted bag from Chanel, as well as gold strappy flat sandals were used to add glamour to her colorless ensemble. The result - a look that's understated but classy.

Also below is another minimalist look from Juliette. Here, she keeps her outfit simple, but goes for standout extras such as gold jewelry and a fringed hobo bag from Gucci.

3. Ana from Spain

Look chic in fall's warm and earthy hues by mixing them with bold prints, such as this pairing put together by Ana of Ma Petite by Ana. Mix an army green button down with blue skinny jeans, then cap off the combo with a leopard print purse and a hat. Add a pair of dark peepers for a dose of drama.

4. Adriana Kubieniec from Poland

Get playful with colors and textures this fall by channeling this look from Adriana of Lovely Imperfect. The fashion designer, makeup artist, and stylist attended New York Fashion Week recently, and this well-concocted ensemble, which she wore on Day 2, is a favorite of ours. Again, it's all because of well-appointed add-ons. Here, she uses colorblock heels, a bright yellow purse, some cool eyewear, and a textured topper to dress up her look.

5. Jessica Sheppard from United Kingdom

Not quite sure when to use that furry handbag? How about now?

Channel fashion design student and blogger, Jessica of Copper Garden, and use your fluffy purse with a thick coat, a short skirt, and some ankle boots. Punctuate with a floppy haat and you're all set. If you want to keep things extra warm, slip into a pair of thermal tights and you're done.

So it's still warm and sunny outside. Lucky you.

Then continue on with your summer style by playing with textures a la fashion blogger, Yulia Sidorenko. She kept things casual but chic by mixing her ruffled dress with a plaid shirt, some leather slides, and a fringed purse. Pretty cool combi, right?
