Cashmere 2012 fashion show

Attending Cashmere’s fashion show combo of design fund and breast cancer awareness treated us to encounters with previous and current works of painstaking genius with the stuff: this fabulous gown is made entirely of Cashmere’s bathroom tissue and appears in the company’s spring ads

This week we were treated to the 9th annual Cashmere collection fashion show of handmade gowns entirely created using the brand’s luxurious bathroom tissue.

We’d heard about this event year after year and finally, this time around we had the pleasure of attending! Seeing this year’s contesting creations revealed on the runway was truly special- the gowns are so much more interesting to see in person where the high level of detail and couture-hand touches make all the difference.

And what a show!

And what a cause: benefiting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the event is a $10,000 prize for the winning fashion designer while proceeds of the sale of the month of October’s limited-edition Pink Cashmere bathroom tissue go to support CBCF via October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Today we admire what we saw on the Cashmere runway and the past year’s outstanding entries, and encourage you to bring home the pink bathroom tissue in October to help benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. You can also view more photos here from the event (including all the dresses and their concept sketch, shoes and other creative accessories made with Cashmere bathroom tissue) and also vote on your favourite one – which also contributes $1 per to the cause.

Do it!

This previous year’s gown entry is simply stunning- flowers create a 3D effect with pearl centres

Being a fashion blogger sometimes feels so 2008 (the year this blog launched). But nothing feels like Cashmere, and nothing beats seeing my name on a fashion show seat- thank you Cashmere!

The show opened with an aerial acrobat- this gal did all kinds of spectacular tricks from what looked like two long strands of bathroom tissue. Loved the spectacle!

The show’s theme this year is Holywood glamour and opening the runway was this gorgeous creation by Rodney Philpott Designs

This interesting gown by Adrian Wu is what you call in the industry, high concept. It is intriguing and definitely a head-turner

A little sass on the runway is always a good thing, and this fun mini needed it to keep that outstanding fascinator in check
