1. Lay the napkin on a flat surface, and fold it in thirds. Fold it in half the other way, making a crease with your hand, then open that fold. Roll one end of napkin to halfway crease.

2. Repeat with the other end.

3. Adjust rolls and place on plate. Add bloom and place card.

Propped Note
Between the tines of a dessert fork, a small calligraphed envelope holds a greeting from the bride and groom. You might consider printing several different messages on the cards so that guests don't all get the same one.

1. Place napkin on a flat surface. Fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle, and fold loosely from the point up to the crease.

2. For the paper strips, start with quilling paper, which comes precut, or cut your own; they should be 1 inch wide and 2 inches longer than the napkin size (24 inches for a 22-inch napkin). Calligraph names on the strips, leaving about 4 inches blank at the end. Place one strip upside down on a napkin.

3. Holding the strip and napkin together, tie into a loose knot.

4. Trim ends of the strip on the diagonal; adjust the paper if necessary so the name shows.

1. Start with quilling paper, which comes precut, or cut your own strips to 20 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. Fold each strip in half. Calligraph names onto the strips (we used a script that suits the curviness of the heart), with the folded edge serving as left margin.

2. Unfold each strip. Tightly wrap one end around a smooth (not faceted) pencil.

3. Repeat with the other end, stopping before you get to the name. Gently loosen the curls to form a heart, and hang on rim.

Use an easy origami fold to create a stand for the menu card.

To make one for a 4-by-6-inch menu card, you'll need an 8 1/2 -inch square of decorative heavyweight paper.

1. Fold the square in half diagonally, wrong sides facing, to make a triangle, and lay it with fold up.

2. Use a pencil to make a small mark 5 inches from left corner. Using that mark as your guide, fold left point to right edge.

3. Flip shape over; repeat step 2.

4. Fold the bottom point up.

5. Tuck bottom point into front pocket. Calligraph a name on the front triangle. Using triangle on back for support, prop up stand and insert menu.
