Weekend Inspiration (plus some)

Photo of the Washington Monument via
Hi H&H readers,

I wanted to interrupt our regular programming for a little announcement....

I am moving to Washington DC. On Monday.
While trying to decide how to share this piece of news, I felt very conflicted. See, I think there's a time and place to lay it all out, and that time and place is not on a fashion blog. In fact, I was so unsure about how to relay this piece of news I wasn't even sure I wanted to share it on here at all. But that didn't seem fair, nor did it seem completely honest. Like we have said before, there's a strong tendency in the blogging world to just edit out the ugly. And to me, my recent gypsy-lifestyle feels pretty ugly. I think with all that editing though, we can't help but cut out some of the greatest part of blogging and that is that, behind the Facebook likes, and number of comments on each post, there's a person sitting at a computer who happens to be a human (I know, insightful). When we censor out the less flattering information, we lose a full sense of who the person is -- both good and bad. And my move, despite being nerve-wracking and somewhat uncertain, is really, really good. I didn't want to leave that out.
So, with all that on the table, I leave you with our [rather relevant] WI:
"In the end, I've come to believe in something I call "The Physics of the Quest." A force in nature governed by laws as real as the laws of gravity. The rule of Quest Physics goes something like this: If you're brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter, old resentments, and set out on a truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher and if you are prepared, most of all, to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself, then the truth will not be withheld from you." -Liz Gilbert
xx,
Mon (and Michaela too!)

Beyonce Rocks Super Bowl Halftime Show, Superdome Lights Go Out: Celebs React

Looks like the Mercedes-Benz Superdome wasn't ready for Beyonce's jelly. Following the singer's electrifying halftime show with Destiny's Child at the Feb. 3 Super Bowl, the stadium lost half its power, leaving thousands of fans -- not to mention the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers -- in near-complete darkness.

The blackout delayed the game for more than 30 minutes. And though broadcasters said the issue was caused by an outside power feed going dead, Twitter had other ideas. Namely, that Beyonce's wild performance had been too hot to handle. Us Weekly rounded up a few of the funniest and best tweets from your favorite stars.

Kelly Clarkson: "The force and power that is Beyonce just shut the Super Bowl down! Too funny!"

Brad Goreski: "Did Beyonce's performance blow out the power in the stadium? She better werk!!! It was all that hair flipping and whipping."

Adam Lambert: "BEYONCE BLEW THE FUSE! GENIUS."

Sherri Shepherd: "Beyonce was so daggone hot, she blew out the power!"

Jimmy Fallon: "Beyonce literally killed it at the Super Bowl."

Christian Siriano: "We are all just standing in the light of Beyonce's halo right now!"

Mark Hoppus: "If you like it then you should have put a fuse in it!"

Andy Cohen: "Beyonce blew the lights out! Did they think that WOULDN'T happen??"

Elizabeth Banks: "The power of Beyonce. She blew it out. Literally."

Chris Colfer: "Beyonce broke the Super Bowl, y'all!!! #Too Bootylicious"

    Divas who love getting inked

    Divas who love getting inked

Getting the name of one's beloved seems to be the new trend in celeb fraternity. Recently Sakshi Dhoni was seen sporting a tattoo of Maahi's name on her neck. Here are a few more babes who love flaunting their tattoos.

Sakshi caught the media attention for her pretty presence alongside hubby Mahi at various events. A few days back Sakshi got 'Mahi' inscribed on her neck in Hindi. Great! At least somebody is there to stand by the losing skipper.

The gorgeous doll of Kamal Hassan and Sarika too has her name tattooed in Tamil on her back.

Former Miss Universe has a range of tattoos to flaunt. Sush has a dagger shaped 'T' inscribed on her wrist. The second on her left wrist is 'soli deo glory' Latin for 'Glory to God alone' and many more.

Deepika Padukone, the stunning siren of Bollywood too got herself tattooed on her back and ankle. The tattoo on the back are said to be the initials of ex-flame Ranbir.

Breaking away the 'Shanti' image, Mandira got two religious tattoos of Ek Onkar penned on her naval and back. Though Mandira also had to face some trouble for the tattoo on her back but still this gorgeous mommy remained undaunted.

This Deol tigress really seems to be bitten by Tattoo virus. In the past, Esha was seen sporting a Gaaytri mantra and an 'Om' tattoo on her back.

he gorgeous duo of Bollywood Amrita and Malaika had also been seen flaunting their love for tattoos in the past, with Munni getting 'Angel' inscribed on her lower back whereas Amrita lavishly flaunted her 'Love saves the day' quote tattooed on her back.

Paris Couture Week: Versace, Valli and Dior strut their stuff

Before the flowers bud, Paris's Haute Couture show proves that spring (fashion, at least) has sprung

This was the first time that fashion house Versace presented during Paris Couture Week in a number of years. Kicking off the three days of shows, the Atelier Versace presentation had the scenic elements of a beauty pageant - or game show.

But this being couture, the collection showed off intricate detailing and embellishment beyond standard hostess garb. Here, model-of-the-moment Lindsey Wixon sports a look that would go over well on a Saturday night in South Beach. Zesty.

But seriously, Versace Atelier can turn out gowns that Hollywood actresses are happy to plug on the red carpet (think: Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie). The latest of these go heavy on the glamour while also incorporating sculpted, space-age accents that would befit a Jetson's movie.

And credit is certainly owing to the show director who instructed the models to give good elbow. Does anyone else look at this and see Real Housewives of Rome?

Young go-getter Alexis Mabille seems to like literary themes. For his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, he latched onto a Proust quote about colour. A rainbow of dresses is one thing; a rainbow of painted faces is another altogether.
